The internship of the bachelor’s degree program “Computer technologies for design and manufacturing of packaging” in Finland at the enterprises of the leading manufacturer of paper and cardboard packaging – Metsa Board – has come to an end.
Together with students from the Berlin University of Applied Sciences, the students of our university spent a week getting acquainted with the full cycle of paper and cardboard packaging production, starting from harvesting wood in the forest, its transportation, storage and processing to the production of various types of paper products and packaging materials.
In the research laboratory, the students observed and personally participated in the creation of innovative packaging and studied methods of quality control of raw materials and finished products. In the company’s demonstration center, they mastered methods of working with clients, and in the design studio they worked together with Metsa Board engineers and designers.
Communication with the company’s specialists, joint work and leisure time with German students once again confirmed the importance of mastering the English language. In such a friendly working atmosphere, understanding comes – English is important not for passing the exam and memorizing topics, but for live communication, development, and ultimately, for communicating in a noisy company of friends during international internships, having a pleasant pastime and discovering new countries, cities, cultural and natural attractions.
Now the girls are looking forward to the chance to implement the knowledge they have gained in Ukraine. They are grateful for the organization of the internship at the Metsa Board administration (Finland), to Professor Stefan Junge of the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (Germany), and to Associate Professor of the Department of Machines and Apparatus for Food and Pharmaceutical Production Natalia Kulyk. Special thanks to our Defenders for the opportunity to become better, learn and be ahead!
