International Association of Universities (IAU)
The International Association of Universities is a worldwide association of higher education institutions and organizations. It was founded in 1950 under UNESCO.
The National University of Food Technologies was admitted to the ranks of IAU on May 6, 2009
The International Association of Universities unites universities, other higher education institutions, national and regional university associations from around the world. This association promotes discussion, reflection, information sharing, partnership activities and mutual study of key issues in the field of higher education and their research.
Among the basic academic principles recognized by the IAU Charter as those that emphasize and define the role of higher education institutions, the following are distinguished:
Academic freedom in the dissemination, creation and dissemination of knowledge;
The autonomy of an educational institution must be balanced with social responsibility and responsiveness;
Ensuring the highest standards of its activities;
Opposing all forms of sexual, racial, religious or ethnic discrimination;
Respect for differences of opinion;
Encouraging and developing intercultural communication and learning;
Freedom of academic mobility and encouraging the internationalization of knowledge;
Promoting the protection of human rights, justice, freedom, human dignity and solidarity.
UIA believes that educational and research institutions, as centers of education, freedom and learning, should play a dominant role in society and work for international communication and sharing of knowledge. These imperatives are of paramount importance today, when the world is increasingly united, and rapid and profound changes are caused primarily by achievements in science, technology and knowledge.
