What is EFFoST?
The European Federation for Food Science and Technology (EFFoST) is a non-profit association that brings together food science and technology organisations in Europe, from east to west and from south to north. EFFoST is the European group of the International Union for Food Science and Technology (IUFoST), which is in turn a full member of the International Council for Science (ICFS), a scientific organisation of the United Nations (UN).
EFFoST pursues the following objectives:
To develop closer contacts between food producers and distributors, universities and research institutes.
To promote the transfer of technology from idea to industrial use in order to improve Europe’s competitiveness.
To promote the continuous professional development and education of best practices within food science and technology.
To harmonise food legislation and implement programmes across Europe.
Support a common network of (research) organisations within the European food industry, aimed at cooperation and “knowledge sharing”.
Development of publications, as well as organisation of events of industrial relevance, including legislation and practice.
EFFoST activities are coordinated by the Executive Committee and its members from industry, academia and government. The Executive Committee reports to the General Assembly. The members of the General Assembly are delegates appointed by the national compliance bodies of IUFoST and EFFoST. The EFFoST Secretariat implements and supports the decisions taken by the Executive Committee.
