On April 23, 2019, International Spring School “European Dimensions of Sustainable Development” was launched as part of the European Union Erasmus + Jean Monnet Program FoodPro Chair (# 587488-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPJMO-CHAIR) and the Jean Monet Module EcoPro (# 574796-EPP-1-2016-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE).
The welcoming speech was delivered by the Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of NUFT Alexander Shevchenko, the Dean of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Environmental Control of NUFT Natalia Grigirchak, the manager of the National Erasmus + Office in Ukraine Petro Kraynik, wishing fruitful work to the participants of the International Spring School.
Professor of the Department of Environmental Safety and Health at NUFT, FoodPro and EcoPro project coordinator Igor Yakimenko outlined the current dimensions of the EU’s sustainable development strategy.
Julia Voitenko-Palgan, a participant in the FoodPro project, assistant professor at the International Institute for Industrial Ecological Economics at Lund University (Sweden), covered information on sustainable consumption, its principles and issues in the EU and other countries of the world.
Nina Kildi, Head of the Testing Unit of the Testing Center for Independent Consumer Expertise “Test”, analyzed the state of consumer protection in Ukraine.
Participant of the EcoPro project, Director of the National Center for Toxic Compounds in the Environment of Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic) Kateryna Sebkova outlined the prospects of a cyclical economy in terms of sustainable development in the EU and in the world.
Project Coordinator Jean Monnet Module “EU Food Safety Control”, Assistant Professor of NUBiP Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise Maria Galaburda provided information on requirements for the development and implementation of ongoing HACCP-based procedures on food safety.
Yevgeniy Lukashevych, the head of JSC “Ukrainian Technology Company”, introduced the to the students main technological capabilities of Ukrainian business in the sphere of minimizing the impact of enterprises on the environment.
April 24 International Spring School continues its work – for the first time an international conference format was launched within the University.
