September 7-9, 2011 VII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Food Technologies and Catering. Modern Challenges and Development Prospects” took place in the city of Donetsk.


September 7-9, 2011 VII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Food Technologies and Catering. Modern Challenges and Development Prospects” took place in the city of Donetsk. This Conference which is held every two years is becoming one of the most important events among the conferences in the area of Food Science and Technologies in Ukraine. This time the international food community has been presented by delegations from Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Netherlands and Russia. The colleagues from Armenia, Belarus and Moldova also sent their reports and presentations.


Donetsk National University of Economic and Trade named after M. Tygan-Baranovsky, National University of Food Technologies, UkrUFoST and EHEDG Ukrainian Regional Group have become the co-founders and co-organizers of the Conference this year.

 


It is important to notice that the Conference was hold with the support of EHEDG.

The plenary sessions were opened with the greetings from Don NUET Rector, Prof. O. Shubin and NUFT Rector, Prof. S. Ivanov. The EHEDG representative Huub Lelieveld gave the presentation concerning hygienic regulations at the European food enterprises and greeted NUFT with the joining to the GHI (Global Harmonization Initiative).



 

The audience has shown a great interest in the NUFT Rector, UkrUFoST President, Prof. S. Ivanov’s presentation. It dealt with the analytical research of the curricula harmonization in the sphere of food science, technologies and engineering in Ukraine and Europe.тетах.

 

 

 

 

The head of NUFT International Integration Projects and Academic Mobility Department, Prof. Y. Zasjadko presented the detailed report about UkrUFoST and EHEDG Ukrainian Regional Group’s work.

 

Our University scientists took an active part in the Conference sections. U. Telechkun, O. Gubenya, V. Telichkun, Y. Zasjadko gave presentations. More then 70 reports were presented at the Conference. Regional higher educational institutions of Food Science area (branch) took active part in the Conference (Dnipropetrovk, Dniprodzerginsk, Poltava, Odessa, Lugansk, Lugansk, Melitopol and others)


The Conference excursion program prepared by the Organizing Committee traditionally had a great success.

VII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Food Technologies and Catering. Modern Challenges and Development Prospects” became an important event for Ukrainian food scientists and the next step on our way to the European scientific and education community.

2nd International ISEKI_Food Conference Bridging Training and Research for Industry and Wider Community took place on August 31 - September 2, 2011 in The University of Milan, Italy.



2nd International ISEKI_Food Conference Bridging Training and Research for Industry and Wider Community took place on August 31 - September 2, 2011 in The University of Milan, Italy.
The National University of Food Technologies representatives International Research Projects Sector head Olena Klymova and associate professor Svetlana Palivoda took part in the 2nd International ISEKI_Food Conference Bridging Training and Research for Industry and Wider Community, which took place on August 31 - September 2, 2011 in The University of Milan, Italy.


The Conference was opened by John Dalli, the European Commission representative.

 

Three workshops were held during the Conference:
- First School of Nanotechnology in the Food Chain
- Food Professional Regulation in EU
- Quality Standards for Food Studies

The work of the Conference was divided to the following sessions:
- New Skills for New Jobs
Chairs: Margarida Vieira (Portugal) and Tanaboon Sajjaanantakul (Thailand)
- New Tools for Research and Food Process Innovation
Chairs: Kristberg Kristbergsson (Iceland) and Pablo Ribotta (Argentina)

Chairs: Harris Lazarides (Greece) and Mustapha Missbah El Idrissi (Morocco)
Round Table: Moderators: Paulo Sobral (Brazil) and Anna McElhatton (Malta).

  

   

The work of the National University of Food Technologies was represented at the Poster Session of the Conference. Professor V. Urchak, associate professor Tatiana Golikova and associate professor Svetlana Palivoda (Bakery Products and Confectionary Technologies Chair) presented their poster devoted to the effect of gum influence on the quality of bread.

 

The 3rd overall meeting of the ISEKI_Food 3 and ISEKI_Mundus 2 projects took place in Milan on August 30-31, 2011.

The representative of the National University of Food Technologies, International Research Projects Sector head Olena Klymova and ISEKI_Food 4 project coordinator prof. Paola Pittia.

The meeting was devoted to the summing up of the projects results. The reports-presentations were about every aspect of project activities: food study materials, e-learning modules, virtual networking environment, quality assurance system, books, lifelong learning in higher education, e-journal. It was informed about the next stage of the ISEKI project - ISEKI_Food 4. Prof. Paola Pittia (Italy) became the coordinator of this project.

 


Prof. Saverio Mannino (The University of Milan, Italy), greeted the participants –representatives of higher educational institutions of food branch from all over the world.

 

The meeting with the French Doctoral School representatives was held in the meeting hall of the Academic Board of the National Technical University "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" on June, 9 2011.

 

The meeting with the French Doctoral School representatives was held in the meeting hall of the Academic Board of the National Technical University "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" on June, 9 2011. The main aim of the meeting was the expansion of the scientific interchange and establishment of the joint Doctorate Studies under the Ukrainian-French supervision. Department Head of the International integration projects and academic mobility Department Yaroslav Zasjadko and Scientific-Research Unit Head Zavjalov V.L. were NUFT representatives. More than 20 Ukrainian Higher Educational Institutions took part in this meeting. A lot of important questions, which are meant to strengthen and promote this initiative,
have been discussed.

 

 

On April, 20 2011 Bulgarian students were awarded Internship Certificates.

Within the existing cooperation agreement between the University of Food Technologies of Plovdiv (Bulgaria) and the National University of Food Technologies, the group of students from Mechanical Faculty, Bulgaria (6 people) obtained a short-term training course at the Food Industry Machines and Devices Department.

Training Heads were Associate Professors V.Telychkun and O.Gubenja.


The Internship Programme provided lectures dealing with food packing, computer simulation of food production, extrusion dough during bread production etc.

Theoretical and experimental parts of investigation included dough extrusion, baking and drying sugar products, food cutting; frictional granular products. The food equipment design of bakery, confectionery, fermentation, meat and dairy industry was considered and studied.

Bulgarian students visited museums, historical and cultural places of interest of Ukraine and Kiev particularly. They had an opportunity to examine modern beer, soft drinks and baking industries equipment during their visit to the Kyiv bakery and Obolon beer factory. Under the guidance of our teachers, students undertook a series of experimental studies. Internship program was successfully completed.

On April, 20 2011 Bulgarian students were awarded Internship Certificates. NUFT Rector mentioned that our scientists were glad to hold classes with Bulgarian students, because we have a significant experience of cooperation with Plovdiv University of Food Technologies.

In his response a team leader of Bulgarian students warmly thanked our faculty staff and the University for this opportunity to become familiar with latest achievements of food engineering.
