Work was performed under the direction of Iaroslav Zasiadko, Professor of the Department of Heat and Power Engineering and Refrigeration Techniques. Members of the Academic Board lively discussed the thesis at the meeting.
Oleksiy Pylypenko was friendly supported by all the Department staff of Heat and Power Engineering and Refrigeration Techniques, coupled with the 5th year students of the Faculty of Energy and Energy Management who are trained in «Refrigeration Machines and Installations.»
The defense of the thesis of Oleksiy Pylypenko is a landmark event for the Department of Heat and Power Engineering and Refrigeration Techniques, since the applicant is the first of the graduates in «Refrigeration Machines and Installations»who defended his thesis. The conference of the European Union of Food Science and Technology – «2012 EFFoST Annual Meeting»

The European community of scientists and technologists of food industry celebrated a significant event- the conference of the European Union of Food Science and Technology - «2012 EFFoST Annual Meeting», held in Montpellier on November 20-23, this year.

The conference of the European Union of Food Science and Technology – «2012 EFFoST Annual Meeting»

Since our University in recent years has gained considerable international reputation and has proven itself as a leading scientific center in the field of food science, EFFoST heads invited a delegation of our University to participate in this landmark event.
In Montpellier the representatives of our University were present on the conference. There were Sergiy Ivanov, Rector of NUFT and President of UkrUFoST and Iaroslav Ivanovych Zasiadko, Head of the International Integration Projects and Academic Mobility, Professor of Heat and Power Engineering and Refrigeration Techniques.
Visit of our delegation was very fruitful, especially if we bear in mind the preparation of the forthcoming Congress «NEEFood-2013» which will take place at the premises of our University. In the course of the Congress EFFoST-2012 Professor Ivanov met with Professor Dietrich Knorr, President of EFFoST; Professor Brian McKenna, a member of the Directorate EFFoST 2010; Huub Lelieveld, a member of the Scientific Council EFFoST, President «GHI» (Global Harmonization Initiative) and other leaders of the European Association of Food Science and Technology. Iaroslav Zasyadko overviewed about the conference «NEEFood-2013» which with the assistance of the company Elsevier was distributed among all participants. Professor Ivanov also negotiated with Mrs. Wendy Hurp, Executive Publisher of publications Elsevier. During negotiations they agreed that Elsevier would allocate the leading journal and publish the main abstracts of the conference. The conference of the European Union of Food Science and Technology – «2012 EFFoST Annual Meeting»
It should be emphasized, that the scientific program of the conference was varied. The most outstanding and skillful specialists of almost all countries of Europe have showed significant theoretical and practical results in the form of plenary and poster sessions (with a total number of more than 600 ones). It is worth mentioning, that the annual conferences EFFoST have gone beyond the European continent and become world class. Thus, there were guests from Sudan, Mexico, Nigeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, UAE, Brazil, Turkey, Chile, Colombia, Algeria and many other countries among the delegates of the conference in Montpellier.
On the sessional meetings in their plenary reports Dietrich Knorr, President of EFFoST, and Natalie Hontart, President of the International Scientific Committee of the conference, highlighted the global approaches of the world food science, modern trends. Their report outlined the future prospects of food science and food technology and had an eloquent title «A lunch box for
tomorrow», which can be translated as «A basket with breakfast for tomorrow.»

Jurgen Lucas, the representative of the European Commission, told participants of the conference about the EU policy aimed at innovative development. He described the future program of research, which will replace the program «FP7» in 2013 and will be called «Horizon 2020.» On the final day Brian McKenna, Professor of University College Dublin presented his report «Research in Europe between now and 2020 as Envisaged by the European Technology Platform Food for Life».
Sure, in the nearest future we will post on our site the selection of abstracts presented at the conference.
